A man visited his mother at her retirement home to find she wasn’t there

When Tony Sellers visited his mother at her retirement home in Londonderry, Northern Ireland, he was in for a surprise—she wasn’t there.

Sadie Sellers, a 79-year-old grandmother of 11, had slipped away with her great-granddaughter, Samantha, to get her first tattoo.

She chose a small heart on her shoulder and took it like a champ. “I asked the fella how long it would take, and he said it had finished five minutes ago. I never felt a thing,” Sadie shared later with a laugh.

Tony, still shocked, recalled the scene: “I just couldn’t believe it. I walked in, and there were three big lads in their 20s, covered in tattoos, and right there in the middle was Mum, getting one herself!”

Known for her usually prim and proper demeanor, Sadie does have a cheeky side. Tony admitted, “She’s normally very ladylike, but she can swear like a sailor behind closed doors.”

This wasn’t Sadie’s first time sneaking out of the home either—she’d gone rogue before with Samantha by her side. Clearly, the pair share a unique bond and a rebellious streak.
Sadie had the perfect explanation for her bold move: “When you get to my age, you just have to live life to the full every day.”

Now *that’s* a motto to live by. Here’s to many more years of happiness, health, and adventures for Sadie!
