I just came across a post where someone

I just came across a post where someone was frustrated about a neighbor’s yard that had suddenly become overgrown and unkempt.

The comments were full of people suggesting it be reported to the city.

But can I ask you something from the heart?

Next time you see a lawn that’s fallen behind… maybe knock on the door instead of jumping online to criticize.

Last summer, my mother-in-law’s yard, usually pristine, went untouched for weeks. Not because she didn’t care… but because inside the house, she was caring for her husband during his final days with cancer.

One day, a few young men from her church pulled up with mowers, rakes, and quiet compassion. No questions. No judgment. Just love in action.

She may not remember every name, but I promise you—she remembers the kindness.

So maybe that neighbor of yours is carrying a burden heavier than tall grass. Maybe they’re grieving, sick, or just overwhelmed.

Before you report it… Ask if they’re okay.
Before we become critics, let’s remember how to be neighbors.

Because sometimes, it’s not laziness.
It’s life being heavy.
And sometimes, all it takes is a knock on the door to show someone they’re not alone.
