Woman Gives New Life to Table Found on the Street, Creating Unique Home Decor

I have always been a big fan of yard sales and antiques. So when I’m out and see that someone has left furniture by the road, I stop to check it out about 99% of the time.

As it turns out, DIY lover Alicia feels the same way! As shared by Hometalk, Alicia found an old table on the side of the road and changed it into a stunning piece of furniture.

The table Alicia found was missing the two glass top parts and had cuts and scratches all over the wood. After stripping and sanding the table’s legs and frame, Alicia started using a paint layering method. She then built a frame that would hold the cushion she made for the top.

The cushion was made from thick foam, which Alicia then covered with a French-style fabric. She distressed the legs and frame of the table, giving it a lovely shabby-chic look. Alicia finished the table with clear wax, leaving the creases dark.

This gave a unique look to the table’s finish and added some nice depth. If you’re thinking about upcycling or need to get rid of old furniture, it’s always good to have the right tools to make space for your new project.

To match the style of traditional benches, Alicia covered the bottom with felt for a clean look. The final result is an antique, French-style bench that would fit perfectly in an entryway, living room, or bedroom.

Great job, Alicia! I’m not very handy, but your DIY project might inspire me to try upcycling furniture in the future!
